Families lie at the heart of Homebuilders
“You guys have given a better chance to our children- that’s really significant in the bigger picture. Allowing them to be better individuals – it made such a difference for us… it’s fantastic, very beneficial.”
These hope filled words were spoken by Michele and Stephen clients of Homebuilders in Warkworth. Centred at the heart of the community, Homebuilders offer a one stop shop for counselling, food banks, community gardens, family therapy and cooking classes. They work and care for families in a truly holistic way in the community of Warkworth and surrounding rural areas.
Four key themes emerge about Homebuilders;
- they walk alongside families at the earliest point possible to enable them to create positive change and avoid the emotional and financial costs of letting problems escalate.
- What they do works – feedback is incredibly positive and families often reflect that the assistance has had a major impact on their family and a common response is “it saved my family from breaking up”.
- Homebuilders provide a holistic wrap-around diverse group of services which interact and support each other – essentially a ‘one-stop shop’.
- They are a passionate team of incredible workers who are highly skilled and non-judgemental.
The Catholic Caring Foundation has partnered with Homebuilders for five years and has distributed $23,000 towards service costs.
